About Public Safety
Who we are
The team that makes up RISD’s Public Safety patrol is diverse, experienced, and well trained across a range of expertise. All officers are annually recertified in first aid and CPR, and several offer first aid and CPR training to community members. Many are certified emergency medical technicians (EMTs), and several are trained instructors in defensive tactics, Mental Health First Aid and Rape Aggression Defense (RAD). Officers also participate in the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), and have prevention and preparedness training in the areas of domestic terrorism and weapons of mass destruction.

Non-emergencies callback procedure
If you need to report a non-emergency situation, call 401-454-6376, our 24/7 line for routine calls, so we can assess the situation and respond accordingly. To avoid response delays, do not email, text or leave a voice message.
If we determine that your issue calls for a response from Facilities, we will contact their on-call administrator for guidance. If needed, we will then call a Facilities staff member to address the situation.
For issues that don’t call for an immediate response, we recommend you submit a work order request so that Facilities can assess and respond accordingly.
Lost and found
Our office acts as RISD’s lost and found. If you think you have lost or misplaced something on campus, you can check in person (South Hall, 30 Waterman Street) or call 401-454-6376.
